Art is Every Where
Art constantly surrounds our daily lives. Wherever we live, wherever we go, we are bombarded with art. Art can have many different forms. Art can range from a painting hanging on a wall to the sculpted desk lamp on our desks. Art is beautifully hand carved furniture or even a wondrously manicured landscape. We often take such art for granted due to being exposed to it with such regularity. But if you really look closely when you walk into your neighbor's home or into a lavishly decorated hotel lobby, you will notice the spectacle that is art.
Since we do tend to take art for granted, one way to get back to seeing its true beauty is by discovering how it is created in the first place. Take, for instance, a unique, beautifully painted flower vase. This vase most likely got its humble beings from a lump of clay that was plopped on a clay potter wheel. The artist would then begin to work his magic on this lifeless piece of clay until it would resemble something that we would recognize. The clay is worked with the artists' hands and water until the perfect shape is formed. It takes time, skill, and a lot of practice to hone the look that the artist is looking for. If the artist is unhappy with the shape he has created, starting over is easy; the clay is simply formed back into its original ball shape. With the potter wheel doing most of the work, the artist's skillful hands shape the clay into the shape of a flower vase.
Once the artist is satisfied with his creation so far, the clay is left to sit until it is dry. After the clay has finished drying, the vase is then painted with any variety of acmi glazes that the artist chooses. The options that the artist has at this point are limitless. Any design from flowers to paisley can be painted directly onto the vase itself. The exciting part happens when the artist is done with his painting. The flowers vase is then transferred to a kiln for firing. The artist makes sure that he uses his kiln sitters to prevent over-firing. When the vase is done firing in the kiln, it is then carefully removed. The artist can now fully enjoy his beautiful handcrafted masterpiece.
Most of the art that we see in people's homes or in other places we visit, is most often store bought. However, there is nothing quite like making your own art. Creating your own art is something that everyone can be proud of. While you may not have the patience or talent for throwing clay on a potter's wheel, don't forget all the other art mediums out there. Your very own homemade masterpiece is just waiting to be made!
